"Amitié Hispaniola" is an organization run by medical students dedicated to supporting the Justinian University Hospital, in Cap Haitien, Haiti with medical goods. Our goal is to provide sustainable development aid. We work closely with a wide network of national and international organizations, which allow us to rapidly adapt to the local circumstances. In 2007 the earnings (250’000 CHF) of the SwiMSA (Swiss Medical Students Association) relief project were used to support the people the victims of Hurricane Noel and Olga on the island Hispaniola in order to help. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. The recurrent political, economic and ecological crises cause instability in Haiti. The health-care system in Haiti is very weak and lacks basic medical supplies. As prospective physicians we want the Haitian population to be able to have access to primary health care.

"Amitié Hispaniola" is project lead by medical students. Our goal is to provide sustainable support. On the other hand Swiss medical students get the chance to be involved in the development and organization of a relief project.
